Dear Friends of The Docket Digest,

Somos is calling on the FCC to modernize the plumbing of telecom: the outdated, fragmented, and costly systems that govern how telephone numbers are assigned, routed, and ported. In a formal Petition for Rulemaking filed September 26, Somos lays out a detailed case for retiring the legacy databases (LERG, BIRRDS), consolidating administration under a single contract, and building a future-ready IP routing guide with Commission oversight.

The transition to IP can’t be completed, they argue, if we’re still routing through systems designed during the breakup of AT&T.

Stay informed,
TJ
